Steven Lee served as an NYPD sergeant from January 2005 to November 2022. He spent about 18 months working undercover for Internal Affairs, and a 2018 Queens District Attorney letter credited his role in securing convictions. He was fired on November 1, 2022 — two years short of a 20-year pension — and lost his pension, while the officers he helped convict kept theirs. New York restored Buffalo officer Cariol Horne’s pension by special act (S.7209/A.8026, Chapter 800 of the Laws of 2021) after she was fired for intervening against a chokehold. Please introduce a Horne-model bill in the January 2027 session to restore Steven Lee’s pension.
